BoilerThe boiler is made from a 15 gallon stainless steel keg. The fittings are all 1/2" stainless steel fittings which I had welded in place by a professional welder who specializes in stainless. There is a 170,000 BTU propane burner below the boiler. On top of the boiler is the auger motor. In it's previous life it was the top of an ice cream freezer. The auger is a very awesome addition to the boiler. Since the wort is boiled for 60 to 90 minutes and requires stirring during the entire boil, this can be a very hot unpleasant job. With the auger, I just heat to boiling and forget it until the boil is complete except for occasional visits to add hops and irish moss and any other ingredients that may need to be added during the boil.

| The auger is made out of solid stainless steel. In the bottom is a stainless ball which is welded to a stainless steel spring. The ball rests in a dimple made in the bottom of the keg. The spring holds the auger into the socket of the ice cream machine (auger motor). | ![]() |
